About
Pioneering the Future of Live Sound and Immersive Audio

BIOGRAPHY
Sound Pressure Laboratory (SPL) was founded with one mission: to break the boundaries of traditional audio. What started in a historic theater with a retrofitted 1980s Dolby Surround Sound system evolved into a revolutionary format known as TrueSPL™ — a real-time spherical surround sound system capable of transforming how music and motion picture sound is experienced.
Founded by audio engineer Michael Way, SPL bridges the gap between analog warmth and digital precision. With over a decade of research, hundreds of shows, and a network of seasoned engineers, SPL is redefining what it means to “hear live.”
MISSION
At Sound Pressure Labs, we believe audio should move you — literally. Our mission is to give musicians, filmmakers, and event creators access to real-time, immersive sound that brings audiences into the center of the moment.
We build systems that integrate seamlessly into any studio, arena, or venue — because surround sound shouldn’t be reserved for Hollywood budgets. We're not here to follow the standard. We're here to rewrite it.
THE METHOD
SPL’s proprietary TrueSPL™ format brings real-time surround sound into the hands of live performers, engineers, and venues. Built from a hybrid digital-analog foundation, TrueSPL™ enables “plug and play” immersive experiences using existing infrastructure — from concert halls to cinemas, theaters to home setups.
Our method focuses on speed, spatial clarity, and real-time control — letting artists and engineers sculpt their sound in the moment. No long rendering times. No complicated installs. Just immersive audio that surrounds, moves, and connects.
